The story
Jonathan Davenport went from fourth to first on the opening lap and led all 80 circuits, earning his second Show-Me 100 victory before the approaching storm arrived.
Ricky Thornton Jr. owned the preliminary nights. He passed Garrett Alberson with two laps remaining in Thursday’s 45-lap Cowboy Classic, then took Friday’s lead with a three-wide opening-lap move to complete the sweep. Each victory paid $10,000.
Before Saturday’s green flag, officials reduced the planned 100-lap finale to 80. Severe weather was approaching, while the heavy, fast surface also raised concerns about engine strain and fuel range. Davenport charged from fourth to the lead on lap one and controlled the entire distance, beating Tim McCreadie by 5.296 seconds.
McCreadie finished second for the third consecutive year, followed by Daulton Wilson, Ross Robinson and Thornton. The $50,000 victory joined Davenport’s 2015 title and made him the eighth driver with multiple Show-Me 100 wins.
