The story
Devin Moran was declared the winner of the 31st Show-Me 100 after apparent winner Ricky Thornton Jr. failed the post-race deck-height requirement.
Jonathan Davenport owned the first two nights, leading all 45 laps of the Cowboy Classic and all 40 laps of the Tribute to Don and Billie Gibson. He remained in front for the opening 57 laps Saturday, giving him 142 feature laps led across the weekend before Ricky Thornton Jr. took command on lap 58.
Thornton led the remaining 43 circuits and crossed the finish line first. Post-race inspection found his car outside the series’ deck-height requirement under the droop-limiter rule. Officials penalized Thornton four finishing positions, moving him from first to fifth and elevating Devin Moran to the $50,000 victory.
Tim McCreadie was scored second, Spencer Hughes third and defending winner Chris Ferguson fourth. Davenport finished 11th after running out of fuel with two laps remaining. Moran became the 16th different Show-Me 100 winner, although the official result came without him taking the checkered flag first.
