The story

Three nights produced three different winners, but Jimmy Owens saved the weekend's hardest pass for the final nine laps of the Show-Me 100.

Thursday's Cowboy Classic was Davenport's race almost from the start. He took the lead from Jared Landers on lap two and opened a comfortable advantage before a mist turned into enough rain to stop the race. The cars went back to the pits, the track crew worked the surface and Davenport went right back to the front when racing resumed. The delay changed the racetrack, but it did not change the winner.

Friday belonged to Landers, although Tim McCreadie made him earn it. They swapped the lead four times in the opening 10 laps of the Tribute to Don and Billie Gibson. Once Landers cleared McCreadie for good, he began putting traffic between himself and the field. Scott Bloomquist made a late charge, but Landers held him off to win the 40-lapper.

That left Saturday, and for most of the 100 laps the race seemed to be moving away from Owens. Davenport controlled the first 44 circuits before Landers and Bloomquist took their turns out front. Owens finally reached the lead on lap 75, only to have Bloomquist wrestle it away on lap 91. Owens answered one lap later. He reclaimed the spot on lap 92 and never gave it back.

Owens collected $30,000 for his fourth Show-Me 100 victory. Bloomquist finished second, Jesse Stovall third, Davenport fourth and Tony Jackson Jr. fifth. After watching two other drivers celebrate on the preliminary nights, Owens was the one holding the trophy that mattered most.
