The story
Wendell Wallace qualified fastest among 107 entries on May 25, 1997, and won his heat. Rick Aukland also won a heat, then took command when the 24-car feature went green.
Aukland never gave up the lead. He completed the 100-lap sweep and collected $31,000, while Scott Bloomquist finished second and Wallace took third. Billy Moyer and Mark Miner completed the top five.
The result made Aukland the third different winner in five editions. The feature’s posted payouts totaled $153,800, and its triple-digit entry count continued the Show-Me 100’s run as a major national draw.
