The story
A field of 109 cars arrived for the May 25, 1996, running at West Plains. Moyer was the fastest qualifier at 16.484 seconds and won his heat, setting up another prominent starting position in the 100-lap feature.
Don O’Neal led 25 of the first 26 laps, with Moyer briefly ahead on lap 21. Moyer took over again on lap 27, led through lap 60, then reclaimed the lead after Bloomquist paced lap 61. From lap 62 to the finish, the race belonged to Moyer.
The $30,000 victory was Moyer’s third in four Show-Me 100s. Bloomquist finished second, followed by Clint Smith, O’Neal and Bob Pierce. The 24-car feature paid a listed total of $150,000.
