The story
The May 24, 2008, event attracted 79 cars. Steve Francis qualified fastest at 14.717 seconds, while Phillips led the opening 32 laps and again controlled the race from lap 45 through lap 79.
Mars led laps 33 through 44 and regained the top spot for laps 80 through 93. Bloomquist moved ahead on lap 94 and stayed there for the final seven circuits, earning $42,000. Mars finished second and Phillips third.
Bloomquist’s late charge produced his fifth victory in the event and his fourth in six years. The 24-car feature paid a listed total of $165,750.
