The story

Billy Moyer closed the inaugural Show-Me 100 by leading the final 38 laps, taking the first victory in an event that arrived with a national-caliber field and a six-figure feature purse.

The Show-Me 100 began on May 29, 1993, at West Plains Motor Speedway with 102 cars attempting to qualify for a 24-car, 100-lap feature. Bill Frye set fast time at 15.053 seconds and led the opening 18 laps before Jack Boggs moved ahead.

Larry Phillips became the race’s third leader on lap 31 and controlled most of the middle stages. Moyer interrupted Phillips for a single lap on lap 57, then reclaimed the lead on lap 63 and stayed there through the finish. He collected $25,000, with Ronnie Johnson and Bob Pierce completing the inaugural podium.

The finishing order also placed Scott Bloomquist fourth and Frye fifth. Based on the posted payouts, the feature distributed $101,500 across its 24 starters. It was an opening statement that immediately established the Show-Me 100 as a major event.
